DOM EK 010 (8cm/3“ CD) DIETER BAUKNECHT Beyond Dorfdisko If you ever imagined sitting in a Nasa waiting room in the early 70s, waiting for a flight to mars - this is the theme music for that feeling. Ripe with ethereal atmospheres culminating in a musical pastiche of sexploration, "Beyond Dorfdisko" is a marvelous experiment in chilled-out avantgarde techniques. When Dieter Bauknecht dived headfirst into oceans of mind-expanding beauty back in 1969 his only equipment were his super-8 machines, but his awesome combination of treated piano, space-strings and effectboxes is a sound like you have never heard before. His uncompromising composing techniques never cease to blast your ears with brilliance until it fades away... The CD only features three cuts, but you'll pretty much be expecting the unusual when the album bears titles suchs as "(Auto) Quartett" and "(For) Four Orgels". The tracks are loaded with what sounds like a rather sinister sounding pipe organ, on top of just endless spacy electronic effects. Sadly all of Bauknecht's music seemed to be lost forever when his studio (Cafe Ufo) burned down to the ground in 1975, but when DOM EK was searching for these long lost recordings it turned out that Bauknecht's assistant Elisabeth Wurst saved most of his work... So here it is for the first time on compact disc: Join Dieter and Elisabeth into their whole new universe of sound!
